Community Involvement

There's no better feeling than walking away, knowing that you just positively impacted someone's day!

While my childhood certainly wasn’t perfect (Who’s is?), I always had everything that I needed. I was always very lucky in that regard. What breaks my heart and always has, are the kids that aren’t so lucky.

I can’t imagine being a kid and counting down the days for Santa to come and then nothing shows up. That’s why I do what I can to try and keep that from happening. Since 2015, I have slept in a box 4 times overnight in a parking lot to raise toys for kids for Christmas at Walmart for The Parenting Resource Center.

It’s cold, the ground is hard, and 8 hours seems like 100, but it’s worth every second to know that kids in the Texas Hill Country will have toys on Christmas morning.

When you become a public figure (anyone who is in radio is), they don’t tell you about the opportunities and responsibilities that come with it. You basically become a public servant. I was lucky to land at JAM Broadcasting because Justin and Leslee McClure have the same mindset. We do everything we can to help our community.

We try and show up to every benefit, people get airtime on the morning shows to talk about the benefits at no charge, we talk about the benefits, I have always allowed people to post in Kerrville Breaking News (30k member local news Facebook group) as often as needed to raise money and we share their benefits on our Facebook pages and groups at no cost to bring as much awareness to the events as possible.

What really makes these events so special is how the public in the Texas Hill Country shows up time and time again. As of writing this, I just came home from a Barbecue Benefit that sold out within four hours. Last weekend, we did a diaper drive for the clients of the Free Parenting Resource Center and raised almost $3,000 in diapers in cash in three hours.

It’s gratifying and being able to truly serve the public in the manner in which we do is extremely rewarding. If you need help with a benefit or raising money for a local cause, please use the contact form below to send me a message and I will help out any way that I can.
