Core Value 7: When I say I’m going to do something, no matter what it is, I make sure I do what I say

This one is all about quality. I actually adopted this core value in 2007 when I was doing quality training at a factory that I worked at from 2006 until 2011.
We had tech levels that we could complete training for that would lead to raises and in order to become Tech Level II, you had to compete quality training, in which the main quote was, “Say what you do and do what you say.”
This stuck with me, but the problem was that I only applied this to other people. Until recently, when I told others that I would do something, I always made sure that it got done, but when I said it to myself, it didn’t seem to matter as much.
No matter what I did, I wasn’t able to advance, but not nearly as much as I knew I was capable of. That’s because I spent all of my time helping others advance instead of making sure that I stuck to my personal goals.
The facts are that when we stick to the commitments that we make to ourselves, the more we can end up helping other people.
If you have a million dollars in the bank (I don’t and never have), it’s much easier to break off $10,000 to donate to a local charity or a family in need than when you have $500 in the bank.
If I am working out every day and eating healthy, it’s much more influential to others to get them to start working out and eating healthy as well.
I want everyone in my circle to level up and reach their full potential mentally, physically, and spiritually.
I can only become of maximum benefit to others if I’m doing these things myself.
And then there is the integrity aspect of this as well. If someone hires you to do a job, you make sure the job is done to the best of your ability at 100%. Always tie up loose ends and make sure that the only review you ever get is a raving referral to others.
Our word is everything. For a lot of us starting out, it is all we have. Failing to make good on your word on everything you say from the small things to the major life-changing agreements that you make damages your reputation, shows a lack of integrity, and really kills your confidence.
Never say you’re going to do something unless you are actually prepared to do everything that you said and then some and always make sure that it gets done, even if it takes longer than possible.
While none of my core values are more important than the others, this one is imperative in order to live a happy, successful life.
Think twice before you agree to anything, then make sure it gets done when you do, always without fail for others and yourself.
